A common failure is assuming others are at fault, which can often lead to more serious problems. If you’ve overcome this, well done—but for many, it’s easy to harbour accusing thoughts. Scripture offers clear guidance: In lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself … look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:3–4). This mindset helps prevent conflict by encouraging humility and empathy. Misjudging others—even unintentionally—is still wrong and may require an apology. We often excuse our own small faults, like accidentally speeding, but such ‘minor’ sins still reflect a disregard for God’s standards. God calls us to holiness in every part of life: As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct (1 Peter 1:15). Let us reflect honestly, seek to think the best of others and pursue lives shaped by grace, humility and God’s holiness.
