God has never hidden Himself from humanity (Acts 14:17). From the beginning He has given every person an inner sense of His reality—something built into the human conscience that whispers of His presence, power and moral law. This inward knowledge, along with the witness of creation, offers enough clarity to guide a person toward reverence and away from evil. If we listen, even faintly, to the voice of conscience, it can steer us toward wisdom and keep us from destruction. But when people silence that voice—when they suppress what they know to be right—the heart begins to darken. Left unchecked, this suppression leads to spiritual ruin. Still God, in mercy, sustains life. As Scripture says, He is the Preserver of all men (see Job 7:19-20; 1 Timothy 4:10). Even when people ignore Him, He doesn’t abandon them. He continues to give opportunity for repentance.
