God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonouring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie. (Romans 1:24-25)

When people lose the fear of the Lord, they don’t just turn from worship—they unravel. Psalm 19:9 calls the fear of the Lord ‘clean,’ meaning it purifies and protects. But without it, people cast off restraint and drift into self-indulgence. Idolatry has always been closely linked with moral corruption. Where false gods rise, purity falls. The worship of created things leads to the degrading of the human body and spirit, dragging people below the dignity God gave them. Scripture warns that God will judge immorality (Hebrews 13:4), and history bears witness to that truth. Choices have consequences and sin carries its own punishment—both now and eternally. God is not mocked. Still His judgments are righteous and just and He calls us back—not just to right belief, but to lives marked by holiness and the fear of the Lord.
