… one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and … reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross. (Ephesians 2:14-16)

Today’s geopolitics is a tide of shifting hatreds and expedient alliances. Nations call each other ‘friend’ only while a common foe lasts. Calvary shows a completely different reconciliation. On the cross Jesus slayed the enmity between Jew and Gentile, abolishing the Law’s dividing wall and creating one new man (Ephesians 2:14-16). Both peoples can now share one life, one Father, one Spirit, one coming glory. Such unity was impossibly costly: the agony of the cross, the righteous One made sin. Gazing at that sacrifice, mountains of human pride shrink to molehills; grievances dissolve. Jewish self-righteousness and Gentile scorn alike are exposed as rags; only Christ is our peace-offering in whom God and people feast together. At the foot of the cross all boasting dies, and true, durable fellowship is born.
